Wonderbrawl

So the Day (for me anyway) started at 9 am sorting things out for Wonderbrawl. I got to the venue helped set up the PA and screen etc. Time flew by as people began to arrive, teams began to appear, and the track penalty boxes etc began to be laid.

Everyone from MRD was helping out somewhere (it being our first home bout) and as the other teams began to arrive they were taken care of. First to arrive in a double decker bus was the Tiger Bay Brawlers (and friends) If you ever have the tiger bay come to you they bring alot of fans with them all of which made one hell of a noise cheering!!!! The Blitz Dames then began to arrive as well as Hot wheels roller Derby.

Before we new where we were the first game was about to start teams were in place with all officials standing by. The first game was between Tiger Bay and Birmingham Blitz. It was a hard fought battle between the two teams, the first half was pretty close points wise with great play from both teams. Considering it was there second bout tiger bay put on a strong offence in the second half, just pulling ahead. Birmingham blitz dames were not out yet with some great jams from violet attack and sleazy rider but tiger bay held strong. There was only one injury during the game which was to tiger bay number 15, Queen La Queefer best wishes to you and i hope the ankle gets better soon and that you are back on skates giving hell. Final score 123 - 110 to Tiger Bay.

On to the Second game between MRD and Hot Wheels. Both teams came out fighting with scores staying pretty even untill half way through the first half MRD began to take the lead. With Some great jamming from Fale, Mooks and G whizz they began to pull ahead. Not that Hot wheels didn't stop them some amazing blocking from Nuclear Missile and Vandal Liza kept the jammers back as well as some great team work form Hot wheels didnt make it easy for MRD. In the second half MRD captalised on there lead and took the game to win, 171 - 56.

For me Reffin two games with fast packs was hard work but was amazing fun, all teams played amazing and the crowd were awesome. There were banners, flags one person had even shaved the letters MRD into there hair which was awesome to see that much support for MRD's first home bout.

Lastly a couple of thank you's, as we all know in derby these things take alot to organise for this we should thank Nic Psychosis from MRD who put alot into organising and getting people to do jobs these people included Seb for the programme, the guys from Nite Heat who did the DJing, Al for the PA etc I could go on and attempt to thank everyone but it would take an age!!!!! But thanks to the teams who travelled and brought people with them to make MRD's first Home bout a success!!!! Heres to the next one!!!
